Meaning: a ray of Bhagavān Sūrya.

In the scriptures: Nārada gives Heti first among the twenty words for the rays of Sūrya, with Kiraṇa, Gabhasti, Abhīshu, Marīci, Mayūkha, Bhānu, Aṃśu and others (Bhavishya Purāṇa, Brahma Parva, Chapter 78).
