Dhṛti (Devī who Served Soma)
Dhṛti, “steadiness”
Dhṛti is one of the nine devī-maidens who served Soma after his great Rājasūya yajña. The Sūta names her in the account of Soma’s birth and glory in the Brahma Purāṇa.
At Soma’s Rājasūya
Brahmā gave Soma, the son of Atri, sovereignty over the seeds and the oshadhis, over the brāhmaṇas and over the waters. Soma, the gentlest of the gentle, then performed a Rājasūya with a dakshiṇā of a hundred thousand, and it is heard that he gave the three worlds as dakshiṇā. Hiraṇyagarbha, Atri and Bhṛgu were the ṛtvijas, the brahmarshis were the sadasyas, and Hari was a sadasya there, surrounded by many munis.
Nine devī-maidens served Soma: Sinī, Kuhū, Dyuti, Pushṭi, Prabhā, Vasu, Kīrti, Dhṛti and Lakshmī. Having bathed in the avabhṛtha (the closing bath of the yajña) and been honoured by all the devarshis, Soma shone, lighting the ten directions.
