Vishṇudharma

Vishṇudharma · vishṇu-dharma, “the dharma of Vishṇu”

Vishṇudharma is a body of dharma teaching named in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. Sumantu Muni, teaching King Śatānīka, says that the brāhmaṇa who lives by the Jaya is called the Mahāguru. What the wise call together by the name Jaya is this: the eighteen Purāṇas, the Śrī Rāma Kathā, dharmas such as the Vishṇudharma and the Śivadharma, the Kṛshṇa-Veda, the Mahābhārata famed as the fifth Veda, and the śrauta dharmas spoken by Nārada. One who knows this body of knowledge is honoured among men as sarvajña (all-knowing) and is worthy of pūjā by all the varṇas.
