Choosing How to Read

Agni Mahā Purana is offered in up to three reading formats per language:

1. A literal prose translation for every Śloka, but excludes the Ślokas
2. A version with the original Ślokas alongside the translation, and
3. A simplified vachanam retelling.

Each serves a different kind of reader, from daily pārāyaṇa to scholarly study to a first introduction to the text.

Where to Start Reading

Agni Purana’s three hundred and eighty three chapters move from Vishnu’s Dasāvataras to cosmology and creation through geography, dharma, royal dynasties, the life of Kṛṣṇa, and finally liberation. If you’re reading for the first time:
