Kālapriya
Kālapriya · kāla-priya, “dear to time”
Kālapriya is the third seat of Bhagavān Sūrya in Jambūdvīpa, famous in the three lokas. The Bhavishya Purāṇa names it after Indravana and Muṇḍīra, tells that the presence of Bhagavān Sūrya is seen there at noon, and counts it among the tīrthas contemplated in his abhisheka.
A seat of Bhagavān Sūrya
Śatānīka asks Sumantu Muni which is the first seat of Sūrya Deva in Jambūdvīpa. Sumantu answers that Sūrya Deva has three seats in this dvīpa: the first is Indravana, the second Muṇḍīra, and the third Kālapriya, famous in the three lokas. There is one more seat, told by Brahmā long ago, and that is Sāmbapura on the bank of the Candrabhāgā.

The presence of Bhagavān Sūrya at noon
The pratimā of Bhagavān Sūrya, speaking to Sāmba in Mitravana, where he installed it, says: “In the forenoon my presence is seen by people from the bank here. At noon it is seen at Kālapriya. In the afternoon darśana of me is here, every day.”

In the abhisheka of Bhagavān Sūrya
Brahmā tells Rudra that on the śukla saptamī of Pushya, abhisheka must be done to Bhagavān Sūrya according to rule, and that one contemplates the water brought as the water of each holy tīrtha. Kālapriya is named in that list after Gaṅgāsāgara and before Mitravana.
