Himatuṅga

Himatuṅga · hima-tuṅga, “the snowy height”

Himatuṅga is a region, the home of the Maunas. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that after the Guruṇḍas the Maunas, dwellers of Himatuṅga, gained the kingdom. They were brown in colour, with small round noses and long heads, followers of the Bauddha path, and they came to Dehalī in lakhs. Their king was Ārjika, whose son Devakarṇa performed tapas on the peak of Gaṅgotragiri.
