Brahmarshi-deśa · brahmarshi-deśa, “the land of the brahmarshis”

Brahmarshi-deśa is the land made up of Kurukshetra, the Matsya countries, the Pāñcālas and the Śūrasena countries. Sumantu Muni tells King Śatānīka, in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, that it comes next after Brahmāvarta, and that from the brāhmaṇas born in this country people of all countries learn their own ācāra.
