Suvarṇa (Ṛshi of the Mantra)

Suvarṇa · su-varṇa, “the golden one”

Suvarṇa is the ṛshi of a mantra. Sūta tells the brāhmaṇas, in the Madhyama Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, the rule of one’s own gṛhyāgni in the special yāgas. In cleansing the earth one uses the mantra “भूरसि”, bhūr asi (Yajus 13.18). Its ṛshi is Suvarṇa, its chanda Jagatī, and its devatā Sūrya.
