Medhāvī Muni

Medhāvī Muni

Medhāvī Muni is named in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. Bṛhaspati tells Devendra that in former times, at the place called Caitraratha, a son named Bhagaśarman was born to Medhāvī Muni of the apsarā Mañjughoshā. His parents left him at birth. By tapas Bhagaśarman worshipped Bhagavān Sūrya for a hundred years, and Bhagavatī Sāvitrī, the presiding devatā of the Sūrya maṇḍala, made him king of the maṇḍala in the month of Āśvina.
