Yatidatta

Yatidatta · yati-datta

Yatidatta is the father of Purīśarmā. Sūta tells in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa that Ajaikapāda, the son given to a vipra by Bhagavān Śaṅkara from his own aṃśa, whom Brahmā made lord of the Candra-maṇḍala as the fear-removing Rudra, came to Māhishmatīpurī. As the one who gives purification in Kali he became renowned by the name Purīśarmā, descending again as the son of Yatidatta.
