Vṛjila

Vṛjila

Vṛjila is one of the seven small vānaras whom Bhagavān Rāma rewarded after the victory over Rāvaṇa. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells, in the words of Kṛshṇacaitanya to the devas, that Vikaṭa, Vṛjila, Jāla, Baralīna, Siṃhala, Java and Sumātra asked Bhagavān Rāmacandra for a vara. He gave them the kanyās born of Rāvaṇa from the devāṅganās and made them kings of the dvīpas built by Jālandhara that would bear their names. They bowed to him and went joyfully to the dvīpas.
