Vedaśarman
Vedaśarman · veda-śarman
Vedaśarman is a brāhmaṇa of Kāśī, of the Dīkshita lineage. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Devarāja Indra worshipped Bhagavān Sūrya for the month of Kārttika, and on Kārttika pūrṇimā Bhagavān Sūrya appeared and promised to take avatāra. He was born in Kāśī in the house of Vedaśarman, in the Dīkshita lineage, as Bhaṭṭojidīkshita, and at twelve he became a master of all the śāstras. Bṛhaspati and Sūta tell this.
