Vartaka
Vartaka
The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that the brāhmaṇa Mukunda of Prayāga, born in the gotra of Śaṅkarācārya, offered his life into the fire, and that his twenty disciples followed the path of their guru. Vartaka was one of those twenty disciples, and in the next birth he was born as Rajabhānu. He was the author of the Jaimini-bhāshā and a follower of the Ropaṇa-mata. Sūta tells this to Śaunaka.
