Śivadatta

Śivadatta · śiva-datta, “the one given by Śiva”

The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Prāṃśuśarman, who had worshipped Bhagavān Sūrya and gone to Sūryaloka, was born in the twenty-eighth Kali Yuga, on Bhādrapada pūrṇimā, as the son of Śivadatta in Kaliñjara. He became famous as Vishṇuśarman-Vishṇusvāmī, who knew Veda, śāstra and the kalās, worshipped the devatās and was a supreme Vaishṇava.
