Śakraśarman
Śakraśarman · śakra-śarman
Śakraśarman is a brāhmaṇa who lived in the city of Ayodhyā in the Tretā Yuga, an upāsaka of the devas. Bṛhaspati tells Devarāja Indra, in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, that he worshipped the Aśvinīkumāras, Rudras, Vasus, Sūrya and others with pūjā and havana, duly, each with separate mantras. Pleased by his pūjā done with faith and bhakti, the thirty-three devatās with their gaṇas made even his rarest wish easy to attain. Free of obstacles and old age, he went on with the pūjā of the devas for ten thousand years, and after leaving the body he attained Sūrya-sāyujya. Seeing that auspicious destiny, Indra with the devas also worshipped Bhagavān Sūrya.
