Kanduki

Kanduki

Kanduki is a brāhmaṇa of Vaṅga-deśa. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Bhagavān Sūrya came to Vaṅga-deśa and was born as a son in the house of the brāhmaṇa Kanduki. This son was Jayadeva. From the age of five he was intent on serving his mother and father, and he served them well for twelve years; then his father and mother passed away, and he performed their śrāddha according to rule. Sūta tells this to a muni, within the account Bṛhaspati gave Devarāja Indra and the devas at Prayāga of the glory of Bhagavān Sūrya.
