Vaikarṇa (son of Janamejaya)
Vaikarṇa
Vaikarṇa is a king of the Aṅga line, which comes from Aṅga, son of King Bali of Pūru‘s line. He is the son of Janamejaya, conqueror of all, and the father of Vikarṇa. This Janamejaya is not the other kings of that name.
In the Aṅga line
The Sūta tells the munis the kings of the Aṅga vaṃśa. Haryaṅga‘s son was King Bhadraratha; his son Bṛhatkarman; his son Bṛhaddarbha; his son Bṛhanmanas; his son Jayadratha, king of kings; his son the great king Dṛḍharatha; his son Janamejaya, conqueror of all (viśvajit); his son Vaikarṇa; and his son Vikarṇa. Vikarṇa had a hundred sons, who increased the Aṅga vaṃśa. All the kings of the Aṅga vaṃśa, the Sūta says, were true to their vows, great-souled, rich in progeny and mahārathas.
