Vahni (son of Turvasu)

Vahni

Vahni is a king of the line of Turvasu, one of the five sons of Yayāti. He is Turvasu’s son and the father of Gobhānu.

The line of Turvasu

After the line of Pūru, the Sūta tells the munis: “Now I shall tell the vaṃśas of Turvasu, Druhyu, Anu and Yadu.” Turvasu’s son was Vahni; his son Gobhānu; his son Aiśānu; his son Karandhama; and his son Marutta. Marutta performed yajñas with abundant dakshiṇā. He had no son, only a daughter, Saṃyatā, who was given as yajña-dakshiṇā to Saṃvarta, and from her came Dushyanta‘s line. “Thus, by the śāpa of Yayāti, the vaṃśa of Turvasu merged into the vaṃśa of Pūru.”
