Ushata (son of Suyajña)

Ushata

Ushata is a king of the line of Kroshṭu, the son of Yadu. He was the son of Suyajña and the father of Śineyu, and the Brahma Purāṇa remembers him as one devoted to his own dharma (svadharma).

His line

The Purāṇa traces the line of Kroshṭu: to Kroshṭu was born Vṛjinīvant; his son was Svāhi, the best among performers of yajña; Svāhi’s son Ushadgu performed yajñas with abundant dakshiṇā for the sake of progeny and obtained Citraratha, a man devoted to sacred works. His son was Śaśabindu, a performer of yajñas who gave ample dakshiṇā, and Śaśabindu’s son was Pṛthuśravas, a famous king. Those who know the Purāṇas say that his son was Antara, and to Antara was born Suyajña. His son was Ushata, devoted to his own dharma. Ushata’s son was Śineyu, a scorcher of enemies; Śineyu’s son was Maruta, a rājarshi, and Maruta’s eldest son was Kambalabarhisha.
