Reṇu (Ikshvāku king)
Reṇu
Reṇu is a king of the line of Ikshvāku and the father of Kāmalī, also called Reṇukā, the mother of Paraśurāma. He is not Reṇu of the line of Viśvāmitra.
The father of Reṇukā
The Sūta, telling the munis the lunar line, says that a king named Reṇu, of the Ikshvāku line, had a daughter named Kāmalī, that is Reṇukā, a great-souled lady. In her, Ārcīka, that is Jamadagni, rich in tapas and learning, begot the fearsome Jāmadagnya, Paraśurāma: master of every vidyā, expert in dhanurveda (the science of archery), the ender of kshatriyas, like a blazing fire, born of the power of Jamadagni’s tapas.
