Paurava (Kaurava Warrior)
Paurava was a king of the Paurava line. He joined the Kaurava side in the Kurukṣetra war and committed his forces to their cause.
The Paurava line is one of the ancient kṣatriya (warrior-ruler) lines. It comes down from Puru. It was one of the main royal lines of ancient Bhāratavarṣa, and its members fought on both sides of the Kurukṣetra war.
Place in the Kaurava army
Bhīṣma names Paurava in the Rathātiratha-Saṃkhyāna. This is the counting of the warriors of the Kaurava army by rank. Bhīṣma rates Paurava as a ratha (a chariot-warrior) among the Kaurava forces. The Mahābhārata gives this account in the Udyoga Parva.
Not Bharata
This Paurava is not Bharata. Bharata was the great emperor of the Paurava line, and Bhāratavarṣa is named after him.
