Kekaya (Son of Śibi)
Kekaya
Kekaya is one of the four sons of Śibi, and the land of the Kekayas is named after him.
In the line of Kaksheyu, son of Raudrāśva, Mahāmanas had two sons, Uśīnara and Titikshu. Uśīnara had five wives of rājarshi families, and in his old age, by the power of tapas, he had five sons by them; by Dṛshadvatī he had Śibi, lord of the Auśīnaras. Śibi’s four sons were Vṛshadarbha, Suvīra, Kekaya and Madraka. Their lands, prosperous in every season, became famous as the Kekayas, the Madrakas, the Vṛshadarbhas and the Suvīras.
