Kanavaka

Kanavaka

Kanavaka is a Yādava of the Vṛshṇi line, one of the ten sons of Śūra and a brother of Vasudeva. He is the father of Tantrija and Tantripāla.

The Sūta tells the munis that Devamīḍha begot Śūra on Asiknī, and on Bhojyā Śūra begot ten heroic sons. Vasudeva was born first, by the name Ānakadundubhi, for at his birth the ānaka and dundubhi drums sounded in the sky. Śūra’s other sons were Devabhāga, Devaśravas, Anādhṛshṭi, Kanavaka, Vatsavān, Gṛñjama, Śyāma, Śamīka and Gaṇḍūsha. Kanavaka had two sons, Tantrija and Tantripāla.
