Durjaya, Son of Dhṛtarāshṭra

Durjaya was one of the hundred sons of Dhṛtarāshṭra. He was a Kaurava prince who fought on the Kaurava side in the Kurukshetra war and was killed by Bhīmasena. The Droṇa Parva of the Mahābhārata names him among the sons of Dhṛtarāshṭra whom Bhīma killed in the war. Other figures named Durjaya are known in the Purāṇas, and this Durjaya is a different person.

Who he was

Durjaya was one of the many sons of Dhṛtarāshṭra who made up the hundred Kaurava princes. Like most of his brothers, he stood with Duryodhana in the Kurukshetra war.

His death

Durjaya was killed by Bhīmasena in the battles of the Droṇa Parva. Bhīmasena killed many sons of Dhṛtarāshṭra during the war. After the vastraharaṇa (the attempt to strip Draupadī in the assembly), he had vowed to drink Duḥśāsana’s blood and to kill every Kaurava.
