Vara (Rudra)

Vara, “the excellent one”

Vara is one of the Eleven Rudras. Sumantu Muni names them to King Śatānīka in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, in his account of the Bhuvana Kośa: Hara, Vara, Śuddha, Tryambaka, Aparājita, Vṛshākapi, Śambhu, Kapardī, Raivata, Īśvara and Bhavana. Vara is the second.
