Vāmana (Viśvedeva)

Vāmana

Vāmana is one of the ten Viśvedevas, a group of devas, and shares his name with the Vāmana avatāra of Bhagavān Vishṇu. In the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, Sumantu Muni names him to King Śatānīka while describing the Vyoma of Bhagavān Sūrya and the devas who dwell in it.

Among the Viśvedevas

Sumantu gives the ten Viśvedevas who exist now: Kratu, Daksha, Vasu, Satya, Kāla, Kāma, Dhṛti, Kuru, Śaṅkumātra and Vāmana. Vāmana is the last of the ten. The same chapter says that the Viśvedevas are sons of Dharma.
