Savitṛ, “the one who stirs to life”

Savitṛ Deva is the devatā of the nakshatra Hasta, the treasury of all tejas. In the rite of nakshatra pūjā that Sumantu Muni tells King Śatānīka, Savitṛ receives pūjā on Hasta with sandal paste and flowers. That deva of devas gives vast wealth, and everything else as well.
