Naigameya
Naigameya · naigameya, “the one of the Nigamas”
Naigameya is a younger brother of Kumāra, the son of Anala, one of the eight Vasus. The Brahma Purāṇa names him with his brothers Śākha and Viśākha in the account of the Vasus and their sons.
In the line of the Vasus
Lomaharshaṇa tells the munis the origin of the devas and the other beings. He names the eight famous Vasus: Āpa, Dhruva, Soma, Dhava, Anila, Anala, Pratyūsha and Prabhāsa. Anala’s son is Kumāra, who shone in a clump of reeds, and his younger brothers are Śākha, Viśākha and Naigameya. Because he was the child borne by the Kṛttikās, Kumāra is called Kārttikeya.
