Kāma (Viśvedeva)

Kāma, “desire”

Kāma is one of the ten Viśvedevas, a deva group named in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa.

Sumantu Muni tells King Śatānīka of the Viśvedevas who exist now. There are ten: Kratu, Daksha, Vasu, Satya, Kāla, Kāma, Dhṛti, Kuru, Śaṅkumātra and Vāmana. Kāma stands sixth, after Kāla and before Dhṛti. Sumantu adds that the Viśvedevas, the Vasus and the Sādhyas are the sons of Dharma, and that Dharma is the son of Brahmā.
