Bhagavad Gītā

Bhagavad Gītā · bhagavat-gītā, “the song of Bhagavān”

The Bhagavad Gītā is a holy text, named twice in the Bhavishya Purāṇa.

In the Brahma Parva, Sumantu lists the saṃskāras and duties of a person. There the trividyā are named as the Bhagavad Gītā, the Brahma Sūtras and the Upanishads. The Vedas are named after them as a separate item.

In the Uttara Parva, in the account of the Vidyā-dāna, the text asks who can describe the fruit of giving the Purāṇas, the Rāmāyaṇa, the Mahābhārata, the Gītā and such holy texts.
