Haricandana

Haricandana · hari-candana, “the candana of Hari”

Haricandana is a deva-tree, set out in the rites of dāna in the Uttara Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa.

In the Kalpavṛksha-dāna, four other deva-trees are set around the golden Kalpavṛksha: on the north stands the Haricandana on sesame, with Surabhī. In the dāna of the mountains, harichandana and kalpavṛksha are to be placed on the eastern and western sides of all the mountains, and on the Śarkarācala this is to be attended to specially.
