Brahma-kapāla
Brahma-kapāla · brahma-kapāla, “the skull of Brahmā”
The Brahma-kapāla is the skull of Brahmā‘s head, held in the hand of Bhagavān Śiva. Brahmā tells in the Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa that in former time Bhagavān Śiva cut off the head of Brahmā and, carrying the skull of that head in his hand, wandered.
Digambara, he came for bhikshā to Dāruvana, where the munis lived, and from there he came to Sūryaloka. There, with jaṭās and the Brahma-kapāla in his hand, of a form without equal in the three worlds, he stayed in the presence of Bhagavān Sūrya, who gave him the name Dindi.
