Vasudāna
Vasudāna was a warrior of the Pāñcāla forces. He fought on the Pāṇḍava side in the Kurukshetra war and was killed by Droṇācārya himself on the fifteenth day.
His place in the war
Vasudāna was a rathika (chariot warrior) in the forces under the command of Dhṛshṭadyumna. On the fifteenth day of the Kurukshetra war, Droṇācārya (Droṇa, the ācārya or teacher) fought with a fierceness that the Mahābhārata compares to that of Yama, the deva of death.
His death
In this assault Droṇa killed Vasudāna. With him fell twenty thousand Pāñcāla rathikas, fifty Matsya warriors, six thousand Sṛñjaya foot soldiers, ten thousand war-elephants and ten thousand horsemen.
This was Droṇa’s last and overwhelming attack on the Pāñcāla forces. After this battle Droṇa laid down his arms, and he was then killed by Dhṛshṭadyumna.
