Jayanta and Amitaujas
Jayanta and Amitaujas were warriors of Pāñcāla who fought on the Pāṇḍava side in the Kurukshetra war. Bhīshma names both of them among the Pāṇḍava rathas (chariot-warriors) when he counts the warriors of both armies in the Rathātiratha-Saṃkhyāna Parva. They stand beside Satyajit as part of the Pāñcāla fighting force.
Their place in the Pāṇḍava army
Jayanta and Amitaujas were leaders within the Pāñcāla group of the Pāṇḍava army. The kingdom of Pāñcāla, ruled by Drupada, gave a great deal to the Pāṇḍava cause. It gave Dhṛshṭadyumna as chief commander. It gave Śikhaṇḍī and many other warriors. Jayanta and Amitaujas are among the named Pāñcāla rathas in Bhīshma’s count.
