Jalasandha

Jalasandha, simply known as Jalasandha, Sanskrit: जलसन्ध, Telugu: జలసంధుడు, Hindi: जलसंध.

Jalasandha was a king and warrior who fought on the Kaurava side in the war at Kurukshetra. The Udyoga Parva names him among the great Kaurava warriors that Arjuna lists in his message to Sañjaya.

In Arjuna’s message

In the Udyoga Parva, Arjuna sends a formal message to the Kauravas through Sañjaya. In Chapter 66, he lists the great warriors of the Kaurava army. This list shows that the Pāṇḍavas had weighed every great warrior they would face and were ready to meet them all.

Jalasandha is named in this list. The others named with him are Bhīshma, Droṇa, Karṇa, Bhūriśravas, Bhagadatta and Vikarṇa, along with the other Kaurava commanders.

At the bank of the Gaṅgā

In the Āśramavāsika Parva, Chapter 32, Vyāsa calls up the whole host of the fallen, and they rise from the Gaṅgā. A Jalasandha is named among them. He is listed with Bhagadatta, the son of Jarāsandha, Bhūriśravas, and other kings who died fighting for the Kaurava side.

This suggests that he is the same Kaurava-allied king. The text gives no further detail to confirm this.
