Citrasena, Son of Karṇa

Citrasena was a son of Karṇa. He was a warrior who fought on the Kaurava side in the Kurukshetra war. On the eighteenth and last day of the war he fought the Pāṇḍava forces. Nakula killed him early in the fighting that day.

His part in the war

Citrasena was the son of Karṇa, the Kaurava commander. He carried on his father’s cause after Karṇa died on the seventeenth day of the war.

On the eighteenth day the Kaurava army was under the command of the newly appointed senāpati (army commander) Śalya, the king of Madra. Citrasena fought the Pāṇḍava forces under him.

Killed by Nakula

Nakula, the fourth Pāṇḍava, met Citrasena in combat and killed him. On the same day Nakula also killed Citrasena’s brothers Susheṇa and Satyasena, one after the other. The Śalya Parva records this as a great show of skill by the twin warrior Nakula.
