Bhānusena
Bhānusena was a son of Karṇa. He fought on the Kaurava side in the Kurukshetra war. Bhīmasena killed him on the seventeenth day of the war. Bhīma shot ten arrows that brought down Bhānusena together with his horses and his charioteer. The Mahābhārata says that his face was like the moon, and that when it fell it was like a lotus cut from its stalk.
In the war
Bhānusena was one of Karṇa’s sons who entered the Kurukshetra war on the Kaurava side. He fought in the great battle of the seventeenth day. This was the day on which Karṇa himself was killed by Arjuna.
His death
In the hard fighting of that day, Bhīmasena met Bhānusena face to face. Bhīma shot ten arrows with great force. They killed Bhānusena’s horses and his charioteer at the same time, and they brought Bhānusena down from his chariot. The Mahābhārata says that his moon-like face fell to the ground like a lotus cut from its stalk.
After he killed Bhānusena, Bhīma at once turned to attack Kṛpa, Kṛtavarman and Duḥśāsana, one after another.
