Suyaśā
Suyaśā is one of the two śaktis (divine consorts) of Kumārasvāmi, who is also called Skanda. She appears with Gajavalī at Kumāraśikhara on Mount Meru in the Kailāsa Saṃhitā of the Śiva Purāṇa. Her name, su-yaśā, means “of great fame” or “of good renown”. It suits the divine consort of Senāpati, the commander of the devas’ army.
She is present when Vāmadeva Maharṣi comes to offer his twelve-verse stotra (hymn of praise) to Kumārasvāmi. She also witnesses the whole teaching of sannyāsa-dharma (the way of renunciation) and Śivādvaita (the oneness with Bhagavān Śiva) that follows.
In the Kailāsa Saṃhitā
At Kumāraśikhara, Suyaśā sits on one side of Kumārasvāmi and Gajavalī sits on the other. Sūta Romaharṣaṇa arrives there and sees Vāmadeva Maharṣi approach. Skanda between his two śaktis, with gaṇas (his attendants) and celestial beings around him, is the scene that Vāmadeva enters and in which he delivers his stotra.
