Vegavān
Vegavān was a mahārākṣasa, a great rākṣasa of considerable power and ferocity. He fought on the side of Śālva when Śālva attacked Dvārakā with the Saubha vimāna (a flying city).
Part in the attack on Dvārakā
The attack came after Kṛṣṇa killed Śiśupāla. Śālva launched his assault with the Saubha vimāna. Vegavān came down to fight the Yādava warriors, on the ground and in the air. His fighting added to the destruction that the vimāna was already causing.
The Yādava forces included Pradyumna, Sāmba and others. They had to face Śālva’s attacks from the air and, at the same time, warriors like Vegavān who fought at close quarters. Vegavān was overcome in the course of these battles.
Śālva’s attack was therefore made with the powers of the Saubha vimāna and with warriors who fought alongside it.
