Bhīmaratha has other meanings too: see all meanings of Bhīmaratha.

Bhīmaratha is a king of the line of Kāśī, the learned son of Ketumān and the grandson of Dhanvantari. His son was Divodāsa, who ruled Kāśī and rebuilt the city.

In the line of Kāśī. The Sūta tells the munis that Dhanvantari, born to Dhanva in his old age, became the great king of Kāśī, learned Āyurveda from Bharadvāja and divided it into eight parts. Dhanvantari’s son was Ketumanta, and Ketumanta’s son was Bhīmaratha. Bhīmaratha’s son was Divodāsa, the dhārmika king of Kāśī, in whose time the rākshasa Kshemaka emptied Vārāṇasī; Divodāsa rebuilt the city on the bank of the Gomatī. (Chapter 11)

In the Puru vaṃśa. The Sūta gives the same line again: Dhanvantari’s son was Ketumān; his son the learned Bhīmaratha; and his son Divodāsa, lord of Vārāṇasī, the father of Pratardana. (Chapter 13)
