Bhadrā has other meanings too: see all meanings of Bhadrā.

The Tushitas are a gaṇa of devas, the devas of great vows of the second manvantara, the age of Svārocisha Manu. The Brahma Purāṇa also tells that, when the Tārakāmaya war had wasted the devas, it was the Tushitas who survived and took refuge in Brahmā.

In the Svārocisha manvantara

Lomaharshaṇa tells the munis the manvantaras. In the time of Svāroci Manu the ṛshis were Urva, Stamba, Kaśyapa, Prāṇa, Bṛhaspati, Datta, Atri and Cyavana. The devas were “the seven devas of great vows, the Tushitas”. The sons of Svāroci were Havighna, Sukṛti, Jyoti, Āpa, Mūrti, Pratīta, Nabhasya, Nabhas and Ūrjas.

After the Tārakāmaya war

The Sūta tells the munis that Soma, swollen with pride after his Rājasūya, carried off Tārā, the wife of Bṛhaspati, and would not return her though the devas and devarshis begged him. The war that followed, famed as the Tārakāmaya, brought destruction to devas, dānavas and the worlds. “O brāhmaṇas! The devas who survived it, the devas called Tushitas, took refuge with Brahmā, the eternal Ādi-deva.” Then Pitāmaha restrained Śukra and Rudra and himself gave Tārā back to Bṛhaspati.
