Citrānna

Citrānna · citra-anna, “varied rice”

Grammar: neuter noun; citra with anna (food).

Meaning: coloured or flavoured rice, a naivedya for Bhagavān Sūrya.

In the scriptures: the Purāṇa says that one who daily offers Bhagavān Sūrya śāli rice mixed with sugar, āmalaka with dry ginger and citrānna mounts a shining divine vimāna, praised by maharshis. So citrānna must be offered to Bhagavān Sūrya with resolve. One who daily offers citrānna with bhakti enjoys all the bhogas of this world and goes to Śivaloka.
