Yakshaśarmā
Yakshaśarmā · yaksha-śarman
Yakshaśarmā was a dvija born of Dīkshita, devoted to the pūjā of a yakshiṇī. The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that, for an illicit relation with the daughter-in-law of his friend, he was seized by kushṭha, and the Yakshiṇī Devī left him and went to Kailāsa. Bṛhaspati tells this to Devendra.
Tormented by hunger, on the excellent Śivarātri he was satisfied by the darśana, pūjā and upadeśa of Śiva. In the morning he did pāraṇa and died in that same Śiva temple. By the power of that puṇya he was born as Rājarāja, a maṇḍalīka king in the Karṇāṭaka country, who had Śivārcana performed every day and ruled a hundred years. Later, purified by Bhagavān Śiva at Kāśī, he was born of Ilvalā as Kubera.
