The Mahārāshṭriyas are a people named in the Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa. The Purāṇa tells that in the kula of Tālana arose Phalarusha, whose son Mahāmada ruled twenty years, and that Mahāmada’s son Mahāmatsya took his father’s place and ruled for five years. This Mahāmatsya, born in Tālana’s vaṃśa, was killed by the Mahārāshṭriyas.
