Arishṭanemi is a yaksha who attends Bhagavān Sūrya. Sūrya stays with gandharvas, apsarās, serpents and rākshasas, two months with each group in turn. In the months of Mārgaśīrsha and Pushya the yakshas with him are Tārkshya and Arishṭanemi. Brahmā teaches this to Rudra, and Sumantu Muni tells it to King Śatānīka.
