Śākyavardhana

Śākyavardhana

The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Śākyavardhana was a king of the Raghu line in the Tretā Yuga. Sūta names him to Śaunaka in the account of the kings. He was the son of Sañjaya and the father of Krodhadāna. Sūta says of the whole line that all were descendants of Mahārāja Raghu, absorbed in the upāsanā (devoted service) of the Devī and devoted to yajñas and yāgas, and that at the end all these kings reached Svargaloka.
