Māṭhara

Māṭhara

Māṭhara is an attendant of Bhagavān Sūrya. Brahmā tells Rudra who was appointed to the ratha of Bhagavān Sūrya, and says that Indra appointed Māṭhara.

In the marks of a Sūrya mandira, which Nārada Maharshi teaches Sāmba, Daṇḍa and Māṭhara are installed towards the south.
