Vāta (rākshasa)
Vāta
Āpa has other meanings too: see all meanings of Āpa.
Vāta is a rākshasa who attends Bhagavān Sūrya. The Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa, in its account of the ratha of Sūrya, says that Bhagavān Sūrya stays with gandharvas, apsarās, serpents and rākshasas, two months with each group in turn. Vāta is one of the rākshasas with him in Āśvayuja and Kārtika, and again in Mārgaśīrsha and Pushya, with Āpa.
