Heti

Heti · heti, “the weapon”

Heti is a rākshasa who attends Bhagavān Sūrya.

The Brahma Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells that Sūrya stays with gandharvas, apsarās, serpents and rākshasas, two months with each group in turn. In Caitra and Vaiśākha the two rākshasas with him are Heti and Prati. With them in those months are the Ādityas Dhātā and Aryaman, the mānasa-putras of Brahmā Pulastya and Pulaha, the nāgas Khaṇḍaka and Vāsuki, the gandharvas Saka, Raśmi, Tumburu and Nārada, the apsarās Kratusthalā and Puñjikasthalā, and the yakshas Rathakṛtsa and Raja.
