Jīvānanda
Jīvānanda · jīva-ānanda, “bliss of the jīva”
The Pratisarga Parva of the Bhavishya Purāṇa tells of Jīvānanda (the print glosses him as Jīvagosvāmī), a disciple of Kṛshṇacaitanya. Sūta gives the account to a muni.
Jīvānanda and Rūpānanda heard of the life of Caitanya Mahāprabhu and came to Śāntipurī. Both bowed to Kṛshṇacaitanya, who was then sixteen years old, and accepted discipleship. Jīvānanda composed the work Shaṭsandarbha. Being of great nishṭhā (steadfastness) in the path of bhakti, both became worthy of everyone’s honour, and at his order they lived there, performing pūjā of Kṛshṇacaitanya.
